“After reviewing the details of the unserious and ridiculous demands being made by the Minority Radical Left Democrats in return for their Votes to keep our thriving Country open, I have decided that no meeting with their Congressional Leaders could possibly be productive,” Trump wrote.
Government funding is slated to expire on September 30th. While the MAGA-controlled House passed a short-term bill to keep the government open through November 21st, it has failed to pass in the Senate.
“They are threatening to shut down the Government of the United States unless they can have over $1 Trillion Dollars in new spending to continue free healthcare for Illegal Aliens (A monumental cost!), force Taxpayers to fund Transgender surgery for minors, have dead people on the Medicaid roles, allow Illegal Alien Criminals to steal Billions of Dollars in American Taxpayer Benefits, try to force our Country to again open our Borders to Criminals and to the World, allow men to play in women’s sports, and essentially create Transgender operations for everybody,” he continued.
It should go without saying, but absolutely none of these accusations are true. This list reads like the fever dream paranoia of someone with Fox News-induced psychosis. The fact that Trump has grown so lazy with his smears shows just how little he respects his supporters. You would have to be borderline braindead to think that these insane attacks have any truth to them. What the hell would “transgender operations for everybody” even mean? Is Trump really implying that the Democratic Party wants to force gender-affirming care onto 340 million Americans?
“These Radical Left Views and Policies is what allowed me to win the Presidential Election, including all seven Swing States, and the Popular Vote, IN A HISTORIC LANDSLIDE,” Trump continued. “There are consequences to losing Elections but, based on their letter to me, the Democrats haven’t figured that out yet. They are trying to eliminate the popular $50 Billion Dollar Rural and Vulnerable Hospital Fund, which was passed with only Republican Votes, and proudly signed into Law by ME.”
Once again, Trump is lying. Democrats don’t want to slash funding for hospitals. In fact, the Democratic proposal to fund the government includes support for healthcare in the form of extensions on Affordable Care Act subsidies that expire at the end of the year.
And it was Trump and Republicans who passed the “big, beautiful bill” that slashes $1 trillion from Medicaid funding over the coming decades. Countless Americans are going to suffer and die because of this president and he’s desperately trying to shift the blame.
“The Democrats in Congress seem to have totally lost their way. They obviously have no idea what it means to put America First or to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” wrote Trump. “All Congressional Democrats want to do is enact Radical Left Policies that nobody voted for — High Taxes, Open Borders, No Consequences for Violent Criminals, Men in Women’s Sports, Taxpayer funded ‘TRANSGENDER’ surgery, and much more.”
“Few people voted for what they represent, which would lead to the destruction of America,” he went on. “Instead, people voted for COMMON SENSE, and that’s what the Republicans and your President, ‘DONALD J. TRUMP,’ stand for.”
Of course, in Trump’s world “common sense” policies mean harebrained tariffs that destroy the global economy and skyrocket inflation, incredibly cruel and unpopular immigration crackdowns, illegal air strikes on boats in the Caribbean, blatant corruption, and an ongoing coverup of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
“I look forward to meeting with them if they get serious about the future of our Nation,” he continued. “We must keep the Government open, and legislate like true Patriots rather than hold American Citizens hostage, knowing that they want our now thriving Country closed. I’ll be happy to meet with them if they agree to the Principles in this Letter.”
“They must do their job! Otherwise, it will just be another long and brutal slog through their radicalized quicksand. To the Leaders of the Democrat Party, the ball is in your court. I look forward to meeting with you when you become realistic about the things that our Country stands for. DO THE RIGHT THING!” he concluded.
These are not the words of a man who is serious about keeping the government up and running. Negotiation is impossible if one side lies about the other side’s demands. Trump is arguing against phantom ideas. Democrats can’t make concessions on demands they aren’t even making in the first place
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries hit back on X.
“Trump Always Chickens Out,” he wrote. “Donald Trump just cancelled a high stakes meeting in the Oval Office with myself and Leader Schumer. The extremists want to shut down the government because they are unwilling to address the Republican healthcare crisis that is devastating America.”
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer also weighed in.
“Trump is running away from the negotiating table before he even gets there,” he stated. “While Americans face rising costs and a Republican healthcare crisis, Trump would rather throw a tantrum than do his job. Democrats are ready to work to avoid a shutdown — Trump and Republicans are holding America hostage. Donald Trump will own the shutdown.”
Let’s be clear about the situation here. Republicans control every branch of government. If there’s a shutdown, Trump will own it completely. It would constitute yet another historic failure of his leadership and confirm what we already know: this man is uniquely unfit to lead.
