The MAGA-verse is very upset after a world leader welcomed former President Barack Obama with a warm greeting.
On Thursday, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney shared a friendly message on X, saying, “Welcome back to Canada, President @BarackObama,” as Obama arrived in Toronto to give a keynote speech at a Canadian think tank.
This warm message caused a lot of anger in the MAGA community.
Some people claimed that Obama, who is 64 years old, was breaking federal laws.
Laura Loomer, a far-right influencer, posted on X, asking, “Why is Barack Hussein Obama meeting with world leaders while President Trump is in office?”
She also replied to Carney’s original post, which included a video of him greeting Obama with upbeat music in the background.
Loomer called it “a coup.”
Others, like conservative influencer Nick Sortor, said Obama should face consequences for possibly breaking the Logan Act, a U.S. law that stops private people from secretly negotiating with foreign governments that are in a dispute with the United States.

Obama wasn’t involved in any secret talks—he was just giving a speech at an independent think tank, which is something former leaders often do.
Sortor wrote on X, “Obama needs to sit down and figure out his freaking place before his a– ends up in prison for violating the Logan Act,” adding, “Trump is our President.
You’ve been sidelined, Hussein.”
One user said, “This piece of s–t will get away with this trip.
Logan act! Lock him up!” Another user corrected Carney, writing, “Obama is not President first off. Secondly this is a violation of the Logan Act.”
It’s common in American culture to refer to a former president as “President” as a respectful title.
Former presidents often give speeches at universities, corporations, and nonprofits.
However, Carney didn’t use the title “former president,” which led some users to correct him in all caps.
One user wrote, “It’s FORMER President zero,” adding, “If he’s claiming to act on behalf of the American people in your ‘talks,’ he’s in violation of the Logan Act.”
Another user asked Carney, “@MarkJCarney so do you mean Barack Obama is still president since you just called him President Barack Obama?”
They also tagged President Donald Trump and added, “This should worry the US a little.”
This meeting between Carney and Obama comes a year after he met with Trump.
During that meeting, Carney told Trump that Canada would never be “for sale,” after Trump suggested he wanted to make Canada the 51st state of the U.S.

The Canadian Liberal Party leader has also tried to stay away from the U.S. amid tensions with Trump, who said at the World Economic Forum in January that “Canada lives because of the United States,” in response to Carney’s speech about the “rupture” of the world order.
The U.S. president has also not hidden his dislike for Obama.
Obama told The New Yorker on Monday that the president’s second term has drawn him back into politics “more than I would have preferred.”
In February, Trump admitted he approved a Truth Social post with a racist video of Barack and Michelle Obama, but he said he didn’t see the images that showed them as apes and refused to apologize.
