In his last email to Pentagon leaders after Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth ordered him to retire immediately, Gen. Randy George.
This message was sent to Hegseth, top Army officials, and three- and four-star generals right after Gen. George was forced out for disagreeing with a planned ground attack on Iran.
“Our soldiers are the best in the world – they deserve tough training and leaders who are brave and have strong character.
I have no doubt you will all continue to lead with courage, character, and grit.”
CBS News confirmed the email is real.
This happens as Hegseth keeps firing senior military leaders during a war that isn’t going well, removing more than a dozen top officers who don’t agree with Trump and Hegseth’s “vision.”
In other words, these officers believe a ground invasion of Iran would be a terrible idea that would lead to a huge loss of American lives, money, and global reputation.
The email was a warning to his fellow senior officers still in their jobs to stick to the principles they were taught to serve by, and to resist Hegseth’s extreme actions.
George, who had been Army chief of staff since 2023, was temporarily replaced by Gen. Christopher LaNeve, who had previously worked as Hegseth’s personal military aide.
What was all that talk about merit, huh?
The difference between these two military leaders right now is really shocking.
In times of war, no matter how it starts, experience, common sense, and a sense of duty should guide decisions.
Hegseth keeps firing anyone who doesn’t support his reckless and dangerous approach.

Hegsludge is a joke. For Fox, a cohort of liars, Sludge read aloud from the teleprompter. His next job was to be Secretary of Defense supervising FIVE American military forces. Utter nonsense. Sludge is a joke and deserves investigation. Behind the make up there is bragging.
Every time hegsbteath speaks I become clearer as to why he was discharged from service in Our Military! My father was spirit shined and polished Navy and my brother a proud Marine! May God continue to rest them both! To witness what kakistocratic operatives can do in such a short time, once they took control of Our government, with this much power is now disturbing the delicate balance of the global economy, and world peace! Netanyahu waited 47 years to find an American president who would foolishly follow him into disrupting peace in the Middle East! Bibi probably promised tRump five magic beans and a toilet with his face in it!
This is as close as it gets to open rebellion against the regime by a senior military commander during a war. General George will be remembered for courageously speaking out.
Thank you for the information Before I read your article I read that General George was fired because he wouldn’t wear makeup. 😲
Netanyahu also promised not to expose the files. I so desperately want to believe these guys in charge really aren’t as incompetent as they demonstrate daily. Unfortunately, I am wanting in vain. Of course, Trump (and sons), for their part are in it for money, market manipulation, and the wannabe tough guy shtick. It’s difficult to portray a bad ass while simultaneously BEGGING for our friends to “come help us.” Oh wait, we’re “winning and don’t need their help.” I have come to the conclusion that we have a deadly combination at work: Incompetence and corruption at the highest levels + intentional (Yes, I believe the destruction and chaos in the nation is intentional) combining to a point of irreparable damage. It will take decades to undo that which has been done. Stay strong and stay safe folks!
I completely agree with this message. In all of my 83 years I’ve never seen such immaturity and lack of critical thinking in Trump and his administration. If it were not so serious it would be laughable and comical. Do any of these “leaders” have any sense of logical consequences in this latest war actions? Seems not so. Playing with lives like this isn’t admirable whatsoever.

Interesting…..someone thinks I’ve already said this. Not.
