Democrats met with Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche late Wednesday night after Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer suddenly told them there would be a “briefing.”
Rep. Yassamin Ansari from Arizona made a video explaining how Comer and Bondi were really trying to trick them:
“So I just got home from the most insane nonsense that Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche tried to pull.”
She reminded people that last week, the Oversight Committee, with support from both parties, issued a subpoena for Pam Bondi to appear and be deposed.
She said, “We’ve had many depositions. The Clintons were deposed.”
She explained, “There are many people being deposed as part of this investigation.
And given Pam Bondi’s refusal to release all the files and everything else she’s done as part of this cover-up, she was deposed.”
“But suddenly, yesterday, we got a message from Chairman Comer about a briefing by Bondi and Blanche with no details about what it was.
We didn’t even know the format. A few hours before, we found out we could ask questions.”
“So we showed up, and it quickly became clear that this whole fake hearing was intended so she wouldn’t have to be under oath as part of a deposition.”
She said, “We were in the committee room, which is where we normally have public hearings.
But this time, it was closed door. She wasn’t under oath. It wasn’t being transcribed or recorded. There was no briefing. They didn’t even give five-minute opening statements.”
“It was just three minutes each of us asking questions.
And we decided not to take that at all. We kept asking her over and over, ‘Do you intend to follow the law and come forward in front of this committee under oath?’”
“This lady wouldn’t answer the question.
She was being so defensive. I don’t know how they thought this would go well. They just looked even more guilty of a cover-up in the way they acted and the fact that she literally wouldn’t commit to coming forward.”
“And then my colleague, Congresswoman Lee, directed a question at Chairman Comer and said, ‘Are you going to make sure Attorney General Pam Bondi comes forward?
And if she doesn’t, what actions are you willing to take?’ He decided to use that moment to call her a ‘bitch.’”
“That’s when we all just had it and walked out.
This is unacceptable. I look forward to seeing Pam Bondi on April 14th.”
It’s no surprise that Pam Bondi and Comer tried to pull something like this.
They are unethical, lawless people who are only focused on protecting Donald Trump and his associates from being held accountable for the serious accusations found in the Epstein Files.
It’s also no surprise they were so careless about it.
Kudos to the Democrats for not putting up with this nonsense and standing up for the rule of law. We’ll see you, Pam, on the 14th. And we’ll see you again in January… for your impeachment.
