Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, wrote on X: “Trump still doesn’t understand the disaster he has caused himself and the American soldiers by killing our Imam, and he wants to tell a whole nation what to do.”
He continued: “The Americans didn’t take a firm stand, and now they will see that the future of dear Iran, which is more valuable than life, will be decided by the strong Iranian people, not by Epstein’s group.”
Ghalibaf’s use of the word “martyring” shows clearly that Trump made a big mistake by killing Ayatollah Khamenei.
He wasn’t just a political leader—he was a sacred figure to Shia Muslims. Whether someone likes his theocratic government or not, killing him was illegal and a huge strategic error. His death has only deepened Iran’s determination to fight against American aggression.
The reference to “Epstein’s Gang” makes it clear how the rest of the world sees this White House.
It’s a group of criminals and protectors of pedophiles who are waging a war that will cost American lives on behalf of Israel.
The idea that Trump thinks he can choose Iran’s next leader is so crazy it’s almost funny.
He said he has to be involved in the appointment of the new supreme leader, just like he was with choosing Delcy Rodriguez, who replaced Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.
Trump said: “I’m saying there needs to be a leader who is fair and just.
Someone who does a great job. Someone who treats the United States and Israel well, and treats other Middle Eastern countries—since they’re all our partners.”
Sina Azodi, an assistant professor of Middle East Politics at George Washington University, called Trump’s comments “wishful thinking.
” She added: “You could argue that the next leader might take a different approach since they’re more likely to be part of the second generation of revolutionaries. Ali Khamenei was from the first generation. But again, Delcy Rodriguez isn’t part of Iran’s politics.”
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh mocked Trump’s comments by pointing out that under the American federal system, Trump doesn’t even get to decide who becomes the mayor of New York City.
He said: “Can you imagine this colonial way of thinking?
He wants democracy at home, but he wants to get rid of the democratically elected leader of Iran?”
